Unitree G1 EDU: Affordable Research Platform for Humanoid Robotics
The Unitree G1 EDU is one of the most affordable humanoid platforms for R&D projects, academic studies, and education programs in AI and robotics. The educational version is specifically designed for academic institutions, research labs, and developers, providing a platform for learning, experimentation, and innovation in robotics, AI, and humanoid technology.
The G1 EDU lineup offers multiple configurations starting with the Standard model (U1), which features 23 degrees of freedom, AI-powered processing via NVIDIA Jetson Orin 100 Tops, and 3D LiDAR for robotics education and research. The EDU Plus (U2) expands capabilities with 29 degrees of freedom including 3 degrees of motion in the waist, providing greater flexibility and control for dynamic movement. For advanced manipulation tasks, the Ultimate A (U3) features dual Dex3-1 force-controlled robotic hands with 42 degrees of freedom, while the Ultimate C (U5) represents the most advanced platform with Inspire 5 robotic hands featuring five fully articulated fingers per hand with 12 individual joints.
The G1 EDU provides open APIs and SDKs for easy programming and customization, with its modular design allowing users to add or replace components such as sensors, cameras, or grippers. All models can be simulated in NVIDIA Isaac Gym, enabling efficient reinforcement learning and model training with GPU-accelerated physics, making it an ideal platform for universities, research labs, and developers exploring the future of human-robot collaboration.
